The Lorch S series speed pulse XT is Lorch’s top of the range most technologically advanced MIG /MAG welding machine fully loaded with state of the art welding programs specifically developed by Lorch to cope with the most challenging welding procedures.

The S series has been specifically designed for high speed pulse welding applications where structural integrity and an aesthetic quality of the weld bead are required.

There are currently 4 variants of the Lorch S Speed-Pulse XT which include two models of the 300 amp version. The S3 Mobile & standard S3, the 400 amp S5 & the 500 amp S8. Each version (Excluding the S3 Mobile) is available in either compact or separate wire feed versions and can be ordered in air or water cooled modes.

The S series is equipped with 6 unique process programs specifically developed by Lorch. Speed-Pulse XT, TwinPuls XT, Speed-Arc XT, Speed-Root, Speed-Up, & Speed-Cold.

In the past, standard pulse welding has had certain advantages and disadvantages over conventional MIG/MAG welding, the main advantage being spatter free welding. However, although the pulse process eliminates excess weld spatter and subsequent component clean up time it has the adverse effect of slowing the welding cycle down. This has always been a major drawback in conventional pulse welding applications where production time is critical.

The Lorch S Speed Pulse XT solves these issues with the development of the Speed-Pulse programme. Speed-Pulse XT delivers optimum dynamic control of the welding arc whilst being significantly faster than conventional MIG/MAG pulse welding due to a higher deposition rate.

The Speed-pulse XT programme package also includes standard Speed-Pulse and the associated Twin-Pulse process for achieving TIG like weld beads on materials such as stainless and carbon steels.

Benefiting from a cosmetically pleasing weld seam, with significantly lower and more controlled heat input into the workpiece. The better heat control, can result in much lower distortion, resulting in notably less rework. Real-world applications that commonly used to be completed by TIG welding can now be welded with MIG-MAG processes thanks to the ground-breaking capabilities of the new and improved TwinPuls XT. Lorch’s Speed-Arc XT programme focuses the arc allowing for deep optimum penetration depth and faster MIG/MAG welding due to a higher deposition rate and faster uninterrupted transfer of the molten droplets.

The S series can also be equipped with Lorch’s Speed-Root program for high productivity MIG/MAG welding of root passes with outstanding gap bridging characteristics. Speed-Root is also ideal for pipe welding applications as it eliminates the need of a conventional TIG root pass which is inherently slow.

The Speed-up program has revolutionised vertical seam welding applications by producing perfect vertical MIG/MAG seams every time up to 100% faster than conventional welding methods allowing anyone to produce high quality vertical welds with very little practice.

Speed-Cold is a low energy MIG/MAG process for thin sheet metal starting from as thin as 0.5mm. Due to the low energy produced by the Speed-Cold process the heat input is minimised which reduces blow through and warping of the material whilst welding.
