Repairs, Service & Maintenance
Breakdowns lead to lost production and consequently lost revenue. They can occur at any time, day or night. When they do, FastArc responds quickly to your problem.
We offer full support for your welding machine and are proud to be able to service all our equipment supplied regardless of make or model, whether It is a new or used machine previously purchased from us, or a machine that has been acquired elsewhere.
We offer many services, from general contractual service & maintenance, breakdown call out & workshop diagnostics & repair in order to get your equipment up and running again asap with minimal downtime & loss of production.
When an effective repair is not possible or is uneconomical, we can provide you with other cost-effective alternatives, such as supplying new or used replacement machines for you to purchase or hire on a short, or long-term contractual hire basis.
Our experienced engineers can visit your site to repair & service any type of welding related equipment or alternatively where travel time may be an issue, you can send us your equipment or we can arrange collection of machines to be delivered to our Nottinghamshire based workshop.
On completion of any repair and service work to your welding equipment, we will supply you with a full digital report as well as an industry leading electrical safety test report to EN 60974-4 2016 for your records ensuring your equipment is fit for purpose and safe to use.

Below is a general outline of the tasks performed when a machine undergoes a repair & service (These tasks may vary depending on machine type, fault & situation):-
- Switch off and disconnect mains power.
- Perform preliminary electrical safety test.
- Remove panels & diagnose faults (If applicable)
- Remove metallic dust particle build up from electrical & electronic components with dry compressed air & brush or industrial vacuum.
- Full visual inspection of all cables, leads, plugs, wires & connector terminals.
- Check fan is running and engages when machine gets to correct temperature.
- Inspect welding rectifier & diodes for signs of poor connections.
- Check H.F. strike (Where applicable)
- Inspect transformers & windings for burning & excessive heat transfer.
- Inspect internal welding cable & outputs terminals for loose connections, burning & wear.
- Examine internal PCB’s for signs of damage, electrical shortage or overheating.
- Inspect internal welding cable & outputs terminals for loose connections, burning & wear.
- Inspect wire feed systems including drive motor, gearbox, gas solenoid, inlet & outlet guides, drive rolls & gear assemblies for signs of excessive wear. (Replace where necessary)
- Inspect water cooling motors where applicable & check for sufficient coolant flow.
- Inspect external earth leads and rectify damage accordingly.
- Check welding O.C.V. output.
- Inspect volt & ammeter for damage and operation. (Where applicable)
- Load test (Where applicable)
- Validate to EN IEC 60974-14:2018 standards
- Weld Test & Gas test.
- Perform second electrical safety test.
- Produce a digital report including electrical safety test report to EN 60974-4 2016 standard.
General servicing & maintenance is recommended every 6 to 12 months for transformer-based machines & every 3 to 6 months for inverter-based machines that are operating in a poor environment to avoid unnecessary build-up of metallic dust particles within the machine.
Failure to frequently remove these contaminants can lead to catastrophic failure of electrical components & possibly resulting in the machine being uneconomical to repair.
In our experience its always best to be on the safe side and have your machines serviced at regular intervals to avoid unwanted issues.
